I’
ve always wanted to travel around the world. Places like Vatican City, Lourdes in France, Japan, US and Singapore are destinations listed in my dream places to visit someday. Yes, someday if I have all the cash and means to do so. A scholarship agreement with the Philippine Government also hinders me to see those historic wonders I’
ve always wish to set foot onto. Crossing my fingers, I have three more years left to fulfill my duties and prepare for my would be trips of a lifetime.
Anyways, despite my deprivation of the opportunity to discover places beyond my country, I realized that Philippines is after all an archipelago with the best scenic spots to visit. I'
ve never seen many of the country’s flagship tourist destinations actually. Going there spells a lot of Peso signs and time which are the main factors why I haven't done so. Poor me, but I vowed to myself that someday I'll have photographs in those places; smiling and making the 'sideways peace sign'.Lols. But though I wasn't lucky enough to have visited
Boracay or
Puerto Galera, I've been in one place I w
ouldn’t forget seeing - the City of Davao.
Located in Southern Philippines in Mindanao Region, the city boasts its rich culture and tradition, warm people, beautiful
sceneries and parks, Mt.
Apo (Philippine’s highest peak), and the
durian fruit. Davao City is one of the world's largest cities in terms of land area. The bustling city is home to many commercial and industrial businesses.Though I learned a little about the city and it was my first time to set foot on Mindanao, I've started to appreciate it the moment I arrived in the city's international airport.

Davao International Airport
Upon arrival, I've noticed the cool breeze soothing my allergic rhinitis -prone nose. It was a refreshing first impression. The sight from the plane was very relaxing on the eye.

The Giant Durian Statue

Sign within the airport

A warm welcome to Davao City
The above pictures were the must- see things around Davao International Airport. The giant durian statue shows the most abundant and favorite fruit of Dabaweños. The city is a major exporter of durian fruits around the world. Mind you, it is very delicious. Just ignore the smell and have fun savoring its sweetness and unexplainable taste.
My stay wasn't actually for the purpose of wandering around the city since I have a personal itinerary at hand but I caught glimpse of some notable places not to miss.

People's Park

If you wanted to find a nice, quiet place to stroll, People's Park is a promise of wonderful walk-in-a-park
experience with its vast location and an array of eye-catching sites. It is like a plethora of nature and modern structure all rolled into one to give a tranquil and solemn atmosphere for some introspection and serene conversation.

Crocodile Farm

Small Eagle

Funny Ostrich
If you want a little adventure or maybe you wanted to overcome your phobia from rough animals with big and long fangs, Crocodile Farm is a guarantee in conquering your fears. Kingdom Animalia at its best, the place showcases several species securely caged for your worthwhile sight-seeing. Photographed above is a crocodile that almost look like fake due to its stillness. For minutes or even hours, the creature hasn't move an inch and the big jaw is at its widest. Just for some fun, passersby would run towards the cage and shout and then the almost desperate crocs starts to chase after them.
Davao is also home to the famous Philippine Eagle and is now bred in captivity in some government-owned and private animal shelter. I've recalled the ostrich above was a restless creature running to and fro and didn't care of pee-ing and scattering "popo's" in front of us.
St. Francis of Assisi Parish
Beautiful Wedding Flowers
My itinerary in Davao was really to attend a wedding and I happened to see the beautiful church as seen above. The church was located in Maa, Davao City and is famous for its stained glass design and garden-like interior. I've as well photographed the flowers during the wedding because it was really beautifully-arranged.
There were lots and lots of places to go in Davao. And hopefully I could go back and see more someday. As for now, I'll just enjoy the memories of places that I've visited and the awesome people I've met. Discover Davao, discover beauty.
